Messy

Yes, I admit!! I am a messy person. I try to be neat and orderly but for some reason it just turns into a mess. Today I took advantage of being home all day. Graydon wasn't feeling well this morning so needless to say I had to postpone work for a day. It is a good thing that my "people" don't mind. Thank you!!

Anyways...I did a million loads of laundry, the dishes, made banana muffins, and the pies de resistance...I CLEANED THE DINING ROOM. Unfortunately this room tends to be the sewing room. It has a great 19th century farm house table perfect for sewing on and using it as a cutting board and it is a pleasant place to be. I had it a total disaster zone. I should have taken a before pic but instead I decided to use this cartoon. I had fabric from one end to the other, patterns scattered all over with no rhyme or reason. I actually got large zip lock bags and labeled the outside with the name and number of the pattern and filled them with all the pieces. I hate trying to re-stuff the envelopes after I cut them out. What a pain!

So...needless to say it still has my sewing machine and small ironing board on the table but everything else is in its place. Shhh I even took out my small Christmas tree that was hiding in the corner. How pathetic is that!!!

Well, at least feel like I got something accomplished today.

Ithaca is ...

Inspirational!!! On Friday I needed a little inspiration so after Graydon got on the school bus we headed up to Ithaca much to Todd's dismay. He wanted to get the garage cleaned out but that happened on Saturday instead.

So we parked the car and headed to the Commons where we found that most stores do not open until 11:00. Several though were open and I headed into them to find some creativity. I did see a lot of cool ideas to try and incorporate into my work but really nothing that struck me. I did though, go into one shop that had patchouli and rubbed it all over my wrists!! I LOVE the smell of it!

After the Commons we decided to head to the Ithaca Bakery for some yummy lunch. I had a delicious fresh motzerella and basil sandwich on a olive oil baget. Todd had chicken with a pesto sauce I think. I wanted only to eat my sandwich because it was sooooo good! While eating lunch we were talking about going up to Buttermilk Falls...so we finished up and headed on our way.

I haven't been there in so long I forgot just how beautiful it actually is. We started up the long set of stairs that seemed like it was going up to the clouds.
The most incredible green of the moss on the rocks and the leaves combined with the rushing crispness of the cool water...now THAT is the inspiration I was looking for.
Along the way we saw a variety of beautiful wild flowers. The above photo is a trillium. There were hundreds in one patch. All standing so straight looking at us to say...welcome.
Boy am I glad I brought my camera with me. I ended up using a whole card full of waterfall photos. The one above struck me as such a beautiful painting. I would love to see if I could blow it up to a very large size for our house. I'm not sure where I would put it but I could find some place!!
I think out of the whole lot of photos I took, this one is my favorite. There was moss growing everywhere. On trees and rocks, in the waterfall itself on rocks. Now how does it manage not to fall off in the fast stream of water? I wanted to take Graydon up there this weekend, but I think we may wait until the weather warms up so he can swim in the bottom swimming area. I know when he goes he is just going to love it.

I was searching for inspiration in all the wrong places...until Buttermilk Falls!! Thank you Mother Nature!

Positive

Hello there, it has been a while since the last post. So many things have been going on. Last Thursday-Saturday I had a sale in the little house. Tons of pottery went out the door but little of everything else. We are having another sale in the beginning of June to celebrate Father's Day, Graduation, Weddings and BABIES!! Lots of new and exciting things happening in the little house. I took some pics after the sale, I should have before but...too crazy busy. I'll post them soon.

I thought I would do a little collage of the "kids" in the house.
top left - Callie the Catahoula (aka Callister or Missy Moo)
middle top - Holly the terror (aka Hollister)
top right - Callie again
bottom left- Holly with a cupcake..I love this photo, she looks cross eyed
middle bottom - Graydon and Callie
bottom right - Stitchie (aka weird-lo or stitcholowitz)

I do have to say that I love to take photos. I am dreading taking my card from my camera to Rite Aid for cd's the card itself is 2.0 gb and I know it is going to be at least 10 cd's if not more.

Anyhow, this weekend is a pottery show at Clayworks. Saturday and Sunday are the dates from 10-5. For those of you in the area, stop by. There are tons of awesome artists with their work on display for sale. I'll be working on Saturday morning from 10-12. Hope to see you there!

You know...

You know what Murphy's Law states...if anything can go wrong, it will. Well, I would love for all of you people who know me to start calling me Murphy!! I can't believe the stuff I get myself into! Today for example...I mailed out approximately 200 post cards in yesterdays mail for the upcoming sale at the little house "next week", AND I PUT THIS WEEKS DATE ON THEM. Good grief!! I am NOT even going to say "what else".

On top of that my great aunt whom I take care of, fell on Monday and broke her ankle in 3 places. I sat in the hospital for 3 hours while she had surgery today. I left when she was in the recovery room because I just needed to get some stuff done. But I came home to find out that I was such a bozo and screwed up on the date for the sale.

So to backtrack, before the hospital...I stopped to see some friends and found an injured squirrel. I loaded him up in a box and took him the a vet before I went to the hospital and after three hours called to see how he was and he had died. Ugh!!!!

Can I catch a break????

*** P.S. The pot in the photo was made last night with some leftover clay. Yes, I did throw it and yes, it is that small!
